Planter’s Lodge and Spa is a 44 bedroom family owned boutique hotel in Takoradi set in over seven acres of lush green vegetation. The British Air Force built what is now known as Planter’s Lodge & Spa for their flying officers in 1934 in Takoradi, in the Western Region of Ghana. It was later sold to a British company who used it as a hotel.

Takoradi was the only harbor at that time in Ghana and British Overseas Airways Corporation had just a few flights from the capital, Accra, so almost anyone who traveled outside Ghana came to Takoradi to take the Elder Dempster vessels to Europe.

A lot of people, children going to school, local business men and expatriates going on leave all stayed at the hotel and to this day, people still come to the hotel and reminisce about their journey by sea.

All four types of luxury accommodation have privacy, landscape views, pool, large rooms with sitting areas, all with marble bathrooms, shower plus separate baths. During your stay the following inclusions are provided.

Garden rooms(20 rooms)

Flanked to the left and right of the reception are our twenty garden rooms.

The rooms have solid teak flooring with all the mod cons. Even though there is a feeling of privacy, the rooms are within easy access of the hotel’s facilities.

Bungalow suites (6 rooms)

Each of the six bungalows are part of the original estate and have been carefully restored to offer our guests a private atmosphere.

All the suites are furnished to a high standard in teak and colonial style furniture, making sure that all your expectations are met in keeping with the tradition and standards at Planter’s Lodge & Spa.

Luxury bungalows (3 bungalows)

The addition of 2 bedroom luxury bungalows at Planter’s Lodge & Spa allows our guests to have complete privacy and flexibility of stay in these newly appointed residences.

The properties are furnished to the highest standards with modern kitchens, flat screen TVs with individual decoders, surround sound radio (in the kitchen) and en suite bathrooms for each bedroom.

Executive suites (6 suites)

Overlooking Planter’s beautiful grounds, the suites are a tranquil sanctuary that captures the feeling of colonial times with their substantial space and splendid interiors.

An imposing four poster bed distinguishes the bedroom. The sitting room has dining facilities. Both rooms have luxurious mahogany fittings.  This is truly a unique suite.

The Mango Restaurant

A luxury fine dining restaurant with the best scenic view in Takoradi. An excellent venue for a Romantic Dinner

Our restaurant and bar is centrally air-conditioned and sits on ‘top’ of the swimming pool. Here, one can find inimitable food like Thai style prawns in coconut cream and fresh coriander or smoked black peppered prawns in a fusion sauce of chilli, garlic and white wine served with noodles.
